I have decided to include a gallery of photos from my collection which were taken on my hike across The Overland Track in Tasmania in 1998. They will enable this website to portray a more complete coverage of this beautiful Australian continent. Although limited, they will also be among those photos which will not enlarge to an acceptable standard. I will be most unlikely to hike the 6-day 65 kilometre Overland Track again, so this will be as good as they get.
The Overland Track is considered to be Australia's premier alpine walking track. It runs from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair across the world heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park in Tasmania. As with all such walks, clear weather cannot be guaranteed, particularly in alpine areas. One can start off in the sunshine and end up with snow covered tracks with little or no warning. Being with a guided group made these unexpected challenges much easier to deal with.
