Darwin
Darwin lies on the northern coast of the Northern Territory. The gallery includes Litchfield National Park and Mandorah.

Litchfield National Park
Litchfield National Park is south of Darwin and contains many beautiful waterfalls and rock pools. Unfortunately at the time I visited there was not a great deal of water flowing over the falls.

Kakadu - Yellow Water-We live here!
Yellow Water is a landlocked billabong which is home to native birds and saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat, and lies within the World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. Crocodiles are not fed; they live in a natural environment. Birds are not protected, they live in the same environment.

Kakadu - Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls
The Twin Falls is a cascade waterfall on the South Alligator River that descends over the Arnhem Land escarpment within the Kakadu National Park. The Jim Jim Falls is a plunge waterfall on the Jim Jim Creek that descends over the Arnhem Land escarpment. Both falls are registered on the Australian National Heritage List.

Kakadu - Ubirr
Ubirr is within the East Alligator region of Kakadu National Park and is known for its rock art. From the top of Ubirr rock there is a panoramic view of the floodplains and escarpments.

Devils Marbles
The Devils Marbles, or Karlu Karlu, are large granite boulders that form the exposed top layer of an extensive and mostly underground granite formation. The Reserve is located near Wauchope on the Stuart Highway roughly mid way between Darwin and Alice Springs.

Stuart and Barkly Highways
The Stuart and Barkly Highways contain images from the central region of the Northern Territory which is less developed than the north or south. Darwin, Kakadu, Katherine and the surrounding regions are to the north, and Alice Springs, the West and East MacDonnells, Uluru, and surrounding areas are to the south.

Central Australia - MacDonnell Ranges
The East and West MacDonnell Ranges include some beautiful and rugged gorges and waterholes. Both East and West MacDonnell Ranges are accessed from Alice Springs. This gallery includes some older photos.

Central Australia - Kings Canyon
Kings Canyon is part of the Watarrka National Park in the Northern Territory. It lies at the western end of the George Gill Range and is 323 km southwest of Alice Springs. The walls of Kings Canyon are over 100 metres high, with Kings Creek at the bottom.

Central Australia - Palm Valley
Palm Valley is situated in the Finke Gorge National Park and is accessed via the Larapinta Way from Alice Springs to Hermannsberg, then via four wheel drive track along the bed of the Finke River. The rare Red Cabbage Palm exists in Palm Valley after which the Valley is named. Definitely worth taking a guided 4WD tour. It will save your tyres and your vehicle from much drama.

Central Australia - Rainbow Valley and Chambers Pillar
The access track to Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve is around 39 kilometres south of Alice Springs along the Stuart Highway. The track is unsealed and the last section sandy. As with Uluru, sunset at Rainbow Valley puts on a magical show. Included are two from a much earlier trip of Chambers Pillar, included for interest.

Central Australia - Uluru / Ayers Rock
Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is located about 400 kilometres south west of Alice Springs. It is accessible by car on sealed road, bus from Alice Springs, has an international airport, and a shopping centre at Yulara, approximately 25 kilometres from the rock. The few minutes at sunrise and sunset provide a magical and spiritual experience as the sun reflects from the minerals in the rock to create a brilliant colour as if the rock is lit up from within.
