One of the older galleries on this website, but a beautiful tiny island off the central coast of Queensland, then with only a small resort and diving equipment rental, and an island you could walk around in 30 minutes. Heron Island is a coral cay located near the Tropic of Capricorn in the southern Great Barrier Reef, 80 kilometres north-east of Gladstone, Queensland. (Followed by a whale watching tour at Hervey Bay on the way back.)
Undara Volcanic National Park is situated along the Savannah Way near Mount Surprise. It is a commercial enterprise, which I don't normally include, but because of its uniqueness, I believe it should be included. This is the site of the Undara Lava Tubes, created 190,000 years ago and one of the longest in the world.
A now commercial enterprise on Robin Hood Station along the Savannah Way south of Georgetown. I don't normally include anything of a commercial nature, but the beauty of the environment prompted me make an exception.

Beautiful Nudey Beach on Fitzroy Island is a beautiful pristine inlet reached via a rocky one kilometre walk through the rainforest from the resort. Once viewed as "clothing optional" it been declared 'no go' for nudists following the redevelopment of the Island by its new owner as a family resort. When I was there in 2011 there was certainly one person seeking to make her point.
Green Island is a popular small island approximately one and a half hours by catamaran out of Cairns. You can circumnavigate the island in about 40 minutes. I find the best way to experience Green Island is to stay overnight at their secluded resort, as the tourist boats leave mid afternoon, and you are left on the island to enjoy the early evening and early morning.
Mission Beach is approximately 2 hours drive south of Cairns, and is a popular tourist destination with beautiful beaches. I am captivated by the moods of the beach created by the tropical weather. The heritage listed Rainforest meets the Coral Sea here.
Situated in the Tablelands of Far North Queensland, Granite Gorge Nature Park is a privately owned venture therefore I have included only peripheral images from the campground area.

The Barron Falls is a steep tiered cascade waterfall on the Barron River located where the river descends from the Atherton Tablelands to the Cairns coastal plain, in Queensland. It is located just out of Kuranda in The Tablelands of Far North Queensland. It is a stopping point for the Kuranda Railway tourist train from Cairns, or can be reached by road.

The Twin towns of Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy are two as yet under developed towns between Bundaberg and Gladstone on the mid east coast of Australia. Round Hill was built on the site of Captain Cook's second landing in 1770 and the name was changed to Seventeen Seventy on the bicentenary of the event. 1770 images have been saved to a separate gallery due to the number of images of this area, many of which have been taken as recently as December 2015.
