Heron Island
One of the older galleries on this website, but a beautiful tiny island off the central coast of Queensland, then with only a small resort and diving equipment rental, and an island you could walk around in 30 minutes. Heron Island is a coral cay located near the Tropic of Capricorn in the southern Great Barrier Reef, 80 kilometres north-east of Gladstone, Queensland. (Followed by a whale watching tour at Hervey Bay on the way back.)

The timber structure in the water off the island is what remains of the old turtle soup cannery long gone, that operated there in the 1920s.
